Beechwood F.C. History
02 Jun 2011

Beechwood Football Club, Edinburghs fastest growing football club, has recently begun to enjoy the developmental advances it does. The club has entered the second phase of its development plan with expansion and strength with respect of our principles and constitution our main objectives.

The club was originally set up as Forrestines Leisure group by David Smith in 1985. In 1990, David changed the name to Beechwood Football club, fondly naming the club after the area he recruited the bulk of his players from. His motivation was to get kids off the streets and give young people a focus in their social lives, essentially, keeping them away from crime, substance abuse and alcohol abuse. The club has moved forward throughout the years and experienced highs and lows. We continue to remain based in and around the Corstorphine area of Edinburgh and are now based at Gylemuir Park.

The club has went through a lot of change in 2011, with 50 new players across 4 new age groups joining!
Beechwood chairman David Smith has communicated his plans for the club in general and following discussion with committee has overseen changes made.

The club now has a strong infrastructure, strategy and organisation in place.

At Beechwood, we are committed to keeping football a fun and healthy pursuit and want to develop young people to the best of our ability.
